The Same-Day Crown Process

Dental Treatment

First, we’ll make sure the tooth is prepared to support the crown. If the tooth has been chipped, cracked, or decayed, your dentist will remove the damaged tissue and then make further refinements to the remaining tissue to create a base for your new custom dental crown.

Impressions

Next, we will take a precise impression of the tooth and surrounding teeth using sophisticated digital technology. Instead of a messy, sticky impression made with putty, this process just uses a handheld scanner that makes no physical contact with you or the treatment area.

Crafting the Crown

Next, Dr. Harmon will use the digital impression to render your crown in a digital workspace, making sure every detail will contribute not only to a great-looking result but also to a precise fit that harmonizes with your bite. A computer-guided milling device will then create your crown from a single block of ceramic chosen to match the shade of your surrounding teeth.

Checking the Fit

In about 45 minutes, your crown will be ready to place onto the tooth to check the fit. If you and Dr. Harmon are satisfied with the look and fit, it will be permanently secured to the tooth using a special adhesive. At this point, fine adjustments can be made to ensure that your bite is comfortable and properly balanced.
